Visa Support

Nationals of EU member states, the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland do not require a visa for entering the Republic of Austria.

Nationals of countries which signed bilateral or multilateral agreements on the abolition of visa requirement, are visa-free if they stay in Austria for a maximum period of 90 days and do not take up employment.

Travel Visa (Visa C)

If you plan to go to Austria as a tourist, to visit friends or on a business trip for a period not exceeding 90 days (within any period of 180 days) and your country does not participate in the Visa Waiver Program, you need a Schengen travel visa (Visa C). This visa is not a work permit.

Please note that in order to apply for a travel visa, your main destination and main travel reason must be in Austria. If you do not have a main travel reason in a specific country (e.g. conference, visiting family members), you have to submit your visa application in the Consulate of the country where you will spend most days during your trip. If you spend the same number of days in different countries, you have to apply at the Consulate of the country where you enter first.

Visa applications must be made at the Austrian embassy or consulate in your country of residence well in advance! It takes 4 - 6 weeks to get the visa.

If you are attending our conferences you will need further additional documents for your visa application:

  • original invitation to the conference
  • original proof of registration (payment of the registration fee if applicable)
  • proof of accommodation
  • proof of sufficient financial resources

The ICC does not assume any liabilities that may arise from the stay in Austria and shall not obliged to repay any fees received or to reimburse any costs or expenses (f.e. flight or accommodation) in connection with the scheduled conference/seminar in case you cannot participate for reasons outside of our reasonable control. Please be aware that for obtaining a visa it might be mandatory to have entered into an insurance contract covering the costs for medical treatment and, in case of violation of Austrian law, the transport back into the country of origin. ICC Austria will support participants by providing conference invitation letters but is not able to furnish attendees or their entourage with a letter of guarantee.
