There are several ways to move around in Vienna - one of the world`s safest cities. Within the inner city, public transport and walking are the best choices.

Walking distance to public transport facilities near the meeting venue
Underground lines U3 (to the inner city) and U4 (amongst others to Schönbrunn Castle): 2 minutes
Tram lines 2 (part of the ring) and O (to Vienna Central Station), City bus 1A (driving trough the inner city):
5 minutes
Further tram lines and buses are within 10 minutes of walking distance


Public Transport

Clean, inexpensive and safe, bus, tram and underground lines offer excellent service to all parts of the city.

  • Single Trip Ticket:
    Eur 2.40 in the Vienna Transport Authority´s ticket offices, ticket machines (underground) or
    Eur 2.60 on the vehicle itself
  • Day Tickets: Valid throughout Vienna for exactly 24, 48 or 72 hours from the time they are ‘punched’.
    Available online, in the Vienna Transport Authority´s ticket offices, tobacconists and ticket machines.
    24 hours: Eur   8.00
    48 hours: Eur 14.10
    72 hours: Eur 17.10

    You can buy this tickets from 25 March until the conference takes place. 10% discount will be deducted in the shopping cart. German language is preset automatically but you can change to English in the top row of the website.
  • Weekly pass: Eur 17.10
    Valid from Monday (12.00 am/midnight) until the following Monday 9.00 am.
    Available online, in the Vienna Transport Authority´s ticket offices, tobacconists and ticket machines.

Taxis can be found at convenient taxi stands throughout the city, usually near shopping streets, major tourist sites, transport transfer points etc. Naturally, the roof-sign labelled ‘Taxi’ distinguishes them from other traffic, and  all taxis are metered. Legitimate taxis will also have the suffix ‘TX’ on their license plate number.

The best ways to reach the meeting venue are by suburban railway, CAT or airport taxi:

  • S-Bahn/suburban railway: station 2 minutes from the meeting venue
    25 minutes ride from Vienna Airport to Wien Mitte
    price: Eur 4.20 (single ride), tickets at the ticket machines on the platforms or online

  • CAT/City Airport Train: station 5 minutes form the meeting venue
    16 minutes nonstop ride from Vienna Airport to Wien Mitte, city check-in for some airlines
    available from 6:06 to 23:36 always 6 and 36 min past the hour
    price: Eur 11 (single ride), Eur 19 (return) tickets at the CAT counter

  • Airport taxi services:
    Several taxi and limousine companies offer airport services when booked in advance. Booking directly at the airport is also available but much more expensive.
