Der Einsatz von Incoterms® im nationalen wie internationalen Handelsgeschäft ist seit Langem übliche Praxis. Die von der Internationalen Handelskammer (ICC) verfassten International Commercial Terms, kurz Incoterms®, wurden mit Wirkung zum 1. Januar 2020 grundlegend überarbeitet und an die aktuellen Handelspraktiken angepasst. Die Incoterms® 2020 berücksichtigen die aktuelle Handelspraxis und beinhalten eine Fülle an inhaltlichen und strukturellen Änderungen. Dazu zählen unter anderem nachfolgende Beispiele. Die Incoterms® 2020… sind zugänglicher und einfacher in der Verwendung. tragen dem nachgewiesenen Marktbedarf in Bezug auf Konnossements mit „On-Board“-Vermerken und der FCA Incoterms®-Klausel Rechnung. passen den Versicherungsschutz in den Klauseln CIF und CIP an die aktuelle Geschäftspraxis an. berücksichtigen in FCA, DAP, DPU und DDP die zunehmende Geschäftspraxis, dass Verkäufer oder Käufer die Beförderung der Ware mit eigenen Verkehrsmitteln organisieren. Klausel DAT (Geliefert Terminal) wird geändert zu DPU (Geliefert benannter Ort entladen), wodurch künftig jeder beliebige (vereinbarte) Ort der Bestimmungsort sein kann. Klauseln enthalten künftig klare Regeln zur Verteilung der Sicherheitsanforderungen bei der Beförderung von Waren und der damit verbundenen Kosten. Die Incoterms® 2020 werden seit dem 01.
